Created ArcGIS Pro Project
Set map spatial reference to NAD 1983 UTM Zone 14N
From USGS site https://viewer.nationalmap.gov/basic/
Downloaded 10m NEDs for central Texas Nueces river area of Texas and added to OriginalData folder
USGS 13 arc-second n30w100 1 x 1 degree
USGS 13 arc-second n30w101 1 x 1 degree
USGS 13 arc-second n31w100 1 x 1 degree
USGS 13 arc-second n31w101 1 x 1 degree
DEMs have a GCS of NAT 1983
Set map project environments:
Current Workspace:
C:\NR6930\lab_6_hydro_analysis\NR6930_Lab_6\NR6930_Lab_6.gdb
Scratch Workspace: C:\NR6930\lab_6_hydro_analysis\NR6930_Lab_6\NR6930_Lab_6.gdb
Output Coordinate System:
NAD 1983 UTM Zone 14N
Used Raster Functions/Data Management/Mosaic Raster
Added the four 10m NEDs
Operation as Blend
Pixel Type 32 bit float
Left all other defaults
Created Mosaics Rasters layer
Used Data Management/Project Raster to project Mosaics Rasters layer:
NAD 1983 UTM Zone 14N
Saved as ned10_nr_pr in Raster folder
Resampling Technique = Cubic Convolution
Left all other defaults
Used Spatial Analyst\Fill tool on ned10_nr_pr and saved as ned10_nr_f
Used Spatial Analyst\Flow Direction tool on ned10_nr_f and saved as ned10_nr_fd
Flow Direction Type = D8
Used Spatial Analyst\Flow Accumulation tool on ned10_fd and saved as ned10_nr_fa
Output Data Type – Integer
Created Hillshade from ned10_nr_pr and saved as ned10_nr_hs.
Found the confluence of Kent Creek and the West Frio river. The pixel value of the ned10_nr_fa where the point was placed was 616538. Right clicked to add new point shapefile to the Vector folder. On the Edit toolbar, used Create Feature to create the point, pour_pt_nr_kc.
Used the Watershed tool to create a watershed from ned10_nr_fd and pour_pt_nr_kc, saved as ned10_kc_ws.
Used the Raster to Polygon tool to create a polygon from ned10_kc_ws and named ned10_kc_ws_poly.
Checked Simplify Polygons
Used Extract by Mask tool to clip ned10_nr_fa raster to shape of ned10_kc_ws_poly and saved as ned10_kc_fa.
Added the USGS National Map basemap.
Set symbology of ned10_kc_fa to Min/Max.
Max of 2500 and Min of 2499 matched the stream network with the USGS network.
Raclassified ned10_kc_fa
0-2499 = NODATA
2500-616538 = 1
NODATA = NODATA
Used Spatial Analyst/Hydrology/Stream Order to create ned10_kc_so
Used Raster to Polyline to create ned10_kc_so_line
Symbolized with Unique values to grid_code attribute.
Created Summary Statistics table.
LAYOUT
Used Extract by Mask tool on ned_nr_hs using ned10_kc_ws_poly to create hillshade for watershed area only and saved as nr_hs_mask.
Downloaded 4 NAIP imagery files from USGS TNM download site to cover watershed area.
Mosaic the 4 NAIP images and created temporary layer
Used Extract by Mask tool on layer using ned10_kc_ws_poly to create NAIP for watershed area only and saved as naip_mask
Used USGS Topo as basemap and set to 30% transparency
Put naip_mask under basemap and set to 50% transparency
Put nr_hs_mask under naip_mask
Created Layout as instructed.
Downloaded 10m NED form USGS from the Wind River Range in Wyoming
USGS 13 arc-second n44w110 1 x 1 degree
Created Hillshade win_riv_hs
Created a poly outline of win_riv_hs and named win_riv_hs_poly so that I could put that on top of the basemap and see the extent of my hillshade without having to make thebasemap transparent.
